Eto’o was returning from a friend’s wedding when his vehicle was hit by public transport on Sunday morning.
Although his car was badly damaged, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan player survived. He has rescued and immediately taken to a hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
“The crushed car Samuel Eto’o was in. I can confirm that he is fine, we spoke again. Doctors taking care of additional examinations,” Martin Camus, a Cameroonian journalist tweeted.
The ex-footballer became a special adviser to Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Ahmad Ahmad, months after hanging his boots in September 2019 after playing at the top of his career for almost 22 years.
The Cameroonian had an impressive career with top clubs around the globe like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Everton.
He won several trophies and accolades as well. Some of the title he is famously noted for are La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Copa Italia, FIFA Club World Cup among others.
Samuel Eto’o Fils is also currently the all-time highest scorer in the history of his country, scoring 56 goals, and he is the second-most capped player for Cameroon.
