Ghanaian Afropop and Afrobeats singer, Wendy Addo, known by the stage name Wendy Shay has announced that she is very delighted that American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress Beyonce resembles her.
Explaining why she thought so, Wendy Shay mentioned that after the release of Ghanaian dancehall act Shatta Wale and Beyonce’s ‘Already’ video, she sighted a picture of Shatta Wale and Beyonce on Shatta Wale’s original Facebook page but she thought she was the one and not Beyonce.
Wendy Shay explained, it took a closer look to later realise the picture was that of the American singer, but noticing the resemblance between her and the American singer Beyonce makes her feel excited.
The Ruff Town Records signee said “when I saw the photo of Shatta Wale and Beyonce, I thought I was the one. But on a second look, I realized she looks like me rather. Then I said to myself am I going mad? Then I said I look like her”.
When quizzed if the dancehall act was going to sideline her now that he had been featured on a big project such as the Lion King with Beyonce, Wendy Shay said no adding that the feature will rather strengthen the bond between she and Shatta Wale.
“Everyone knows I have always been an SM Fan even before I became Wendy Shay and so it is SM4LYF,” she added.
American musician Beyonce posted the music video for her song ‘Already’ featuring Ghanaian dancehall act Shatta Wale which set social media on fire as many Ghanaians and Africans were excited that Shatta Wale has made the name of Ghana fly.
Messages and congratulatory messages from Shatta Wale’s colleagues and friends, both in and out of the music industry flooded the media space barely an hour after the release of the video.
The ‘Already’ single, which forms part of The Lion King: The Gift album, is featured in Beyoncé’s Black is King visual album.
