A section of Nigerians have thrown a challenge to Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, to walk on the streets of the city without his security detail if he believes that he is still the “Jagaban” he claims to be.
Africa At Random had earlier reported that the Bola Tinubu reiterated his title claim saying that “still the Jagaban” when he paid a visit to the bedeviled Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina on Saturday, October 24.
Tinubu while speaking to the media present after the meeting with the governor denied the news that he had fled out of Nigeria after the Lekki massacre as reported by some sections of the public.
Reports of killing of peaceful protestors by men of the Nigerian Army at Lekki toll gate (which is now being globally recognized as ‘the Lekki massacre’) on Tuesday evening, October 20, has been rife all through this week with many pointing fingers at Tinubu as being one of the masterminds of the massacre.
It is also rumoured that the Lekki tollgate is run by Tinubu whiles the advertising billboards and display items around the toll gate are owned by his son, Seyi Tinubu.
However, a section of unidentified people, who were apparently displeased with the killing of the peaceful protesters, stormed the streets in retaliation, vandalizing several monuments and properties belonging to the Tinubu family in the process. Television Continetal and The Nation newspaper as well as Oriental Hotels, linked to Tinubu were also targets.
When he was asked about his whereabouts in the past few days as it appeared that he had gone into hiding, the APC founding person said, “I didn’t go nowhere; I’m a Lagosian and I still hold the title of Asiwaju of Lagos and I am still a Jagaban.
“Fake news is all over the place. They say Seyi my son was kidnapped and was chased but look at him. I didn’t pay a penny to bring him here,” Tinubu added.
Many people have been displeased by Tinubu’s comments and have taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to challenge Tinubu to walk on the streets of Lagos without his security details to prove that he is still the “JAGABAN” he claims to be.
