Ghanaian Songstress Belinda Nana Akua Amoah popularly known as Mzbel has opened up about her rape saga which happened some years back, mentioning that she was raped by armed robbers at gunpoint in her house.
In an interview with Kofi Adomah on Kofi TV, she recounted the unfortunate incident adding that she and two of her friends were raped in her house.
Mzbel said she and her friends went to the hospital after the incident went through a series of tests including HIV.
She stressed that had she been pregnant as a result of the rape she would have gotten rid of the pregnancy.
“Ghanaians showed love at that moment but the media didnt show love as they made it look very bad,” she added.
She blamed the media for making the incident look dirty even though it was horrible for her. She further indicated that the rape incident had nothing to do with who she is or what her brand looks like.
Mzbel, however, showed displeasure with how the police at the time dealt with her rape case.
She went on to reveal that she and her friends were the same people who caught the armed robbers because they got hold of one which led to the arrest of the others.
“A month later after the incident, we went to labadi beach and saw one of the armed robbers and we called the police; they told us they did not have cars available, so we told the security at the gate. He then went ahead to plan with the boys at the beach and they arrested the guy and sent him to the police station,” the songstress said.
Recounting the incident, Mzbel said she later got to know that one of her rapists died after he had rapped and robbed her and ther other girls at their New Gbawe residence.
Mzbel and her girls were robbed of various sums of money and items including two DVD Players, Digital video camera, Jewellery, cloths, five mobile phones and other valuables.
