John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and a former president of Ghana, has reacted to the endorsements that musicians Sarkodie and Samini have given to his opponent and sitting president, Nana Akufo-Addo, ahead of the general election in December.
The NDC flagbearer in an interview on Accra based Starr FM this morning, said that he has nothing against Sarkodie and Samini choosing Akufo-Addo instead of him. According to him, every one has the independence of mind to make a choice president as they so see fit.
Africa At Random had earlier reported that dancehall artiste, Samini, had made a glaring endorsement of Nana Akufo-Addo and asked people to give the president another 4-year mandate to continue his projects.
A few hours later, rapper Sarkodie also released a song in support of the NPP‘s presidential candidate; even though his song was not as direct as Samini’s, he provided to lines which stated that the sitting president had to be commended for the works he has done thus far.
As to how effective these high-powered celebrity endorsements would be for the outcome of the elections, we would have to wait until results are announced on the 7th of December to ascertain it.
