I am not a Big Fan of Awards – Wizkid Reveals

Internationally famous singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, reveals that he is not a big fan of awards during an interview with Naomi Campbell.

During the course of an interview with Naomi Canmpbell, Wizkid pointed out what he thinks should be important to music stars and what should not be.

For Wizkid being a good music artist implies being able to satisfy your fans and listeners.

According to the popular artist, a good artist is known by how his music touches people.

Wizkid made this claims during an interview with model Naomi Campbell. He went further to explain that awards do not determine who an artiste is.

Wizkid said that as an artist, his joy comes from knowing that his “music is touching people the right way”.

“I am not a big fan of awards…I have been very vocal about that, it doesn’t define who you are.. it doesn’t define your substance [and] it doesn’t define how amazing you are.”

In Wizkid’s point of view, award shows are just events founded by companies

“At the end of the day, you need to understand, awards is [sic] a company putting together a show.

“As long as my music is touching people and they are feeling it the right way, I’m very content about it,” he said.

It would be recalled that Wizkid was nominated for the MOBO awards. He was also nominated for the MTVA awards alongside other big artistes in Nigeria.

Although according to Wizkid, this awards are not what is important, it has been observed that this does not apply to his fans.

His fans have been seen bantering with fans of other artists on who is the biggest artists. And during most of these banters, these fans mostly back up their points with the awards that their fave has won.
