Former WBO World Champion, Isaac Dogboe, won his fight against Chris Avalos a few hours ago.
Royal Storm, as Isaac is affectionately called in boxing circles had suffered two consecutive defeats to Emmanuel Navarrete who he lost his WBO title to on the 8th of December 2018, at the Hulu Theatre in New York. All the three judges had scored the match in favour of Navarrete that night.
Dogboe went for a rematch of that fight on the 11th of May, 2019 with the hopes of getting his title back, only to suffer a second defeat via technical knockout (T.KO) by the end of the 12th round.
The defeat in 2019 made Isaac Dogboe’s camp dishevelled, with talks of a possible end of career for the boxer.
Finally, the young Ghanaian boxer’s team got things together and decided that he changes his trainers that was then led by his dad, Paul Dogboe, to a new training team in New York, led by legendary trainer Freddy Roach.
Isaac after more than a year of absence appeared last night in the boxing ring to pick up his career from the jaws of defeat, and boy was he brilliant on the night!
In a match that went up to 8 rounds, the British-Ghanaian boxer dominated through out against his American opponent, Chris Avalos.
Avalos looked lost right from the start of the fight has Dogboe kept landing many shots from the get go.
The fight last night, showed clearly that Dogboe has put the disappointments of his last two fights behind him and he is ready to step up to the champions plate once more.
In the end, Isaac came up tops winning with a technical knockout (T.K.O) in the eight (8th) round as Chris could no longer take any more beatings.
This makes it 23 fights for Isaac Dogboe with 21 wins and 2 losses. 15 of those wins have been by knockouts and 6 being by unilateral decisions.
