Some details have emerged on how popular Nigerian music producer, Michael Ajereh AKA Don Jazzy, and Tiwatope Savage popularly known as Tiwa Savage, were invited by the country’s Police and DSS for questioning over some alleged political utterances against they made about the administration of President Muhamamdu Buhari.
The last couple of months, following a sharp rise in sexual assault cases across Nigeria especially against women, Tiwa Savage began a movement known as #WeAreTired in protest of the situation.
Tiwa Savage and Don Jazzy, were reportedly invited to the DSS office in Lagos about two weeks ago during which they were warned to be careful with their posts on the social media.
Shortly after this incident, the two celebrities together with colleagues Yemi Alade and Waje were again summoned by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, who while commending them for their efforts against the molestation of women and helping to tackle the issues of rape and other problems in the state and country, warned the celebrities to steer clear of political comments in order not to incur the wrath of the President Buhari administration.
This information was leaked by a member of Tiwa’s management team. The person confirmed the incident to some media houses but added that the celebrated female artiste will not stop speaking for Nigerians regardless of any move by government.
But as if to confirm the subtle warning from government, Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage both appear to have toned down their social media rhetoric in recent days after the meeting with the DSS and police in Lagos.
