Diamond Platnumz Recounts how Collabo with Davido Nearly led to Bankruptcy

Controversial Tanzanian Artiste, Diamond Platnumz, in an interview, recounts how he almost went bankrupt after featuring Afrobeats crooner, Davido, for the remix of his song in 2014.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, the singer revealed how his collabo with Davido almost left him bankrupt after he struggled to pay the Nigerian star for his services.

Diamond Platnumz said although the remix of his song “Number One”, in which he featured Davido was a hit, he was almost left bankrupt.

According to the singing star, he spent ten times more than what he normally spend on other artists in his former collabo with the Nigerian singer. He revealed that the money he spent on the collabo was too much that he had to get loans from several banks to fund the music video of the remix of his hit song “Number One”.

However, Diamond Platnumz noted that he did not regret his collabo with Davido. He said that although he almost went broke, his collabo with Davido opened several doors for him.

He explained that the collabo cleared the way for new opportunities and got him enough funds to create his label WCB.

“Before doing the first video version of Number One at Ogopa Djs in Nairobi, my video cost used to be about KSh 326, 000 per video. With Number One, I went ten times higher and spent KSh 3.3 million or thereabout to fly Ogopa Djs video crew to Cape Town, South Africa, and shoot my video. The outcome was amazing, and that gave me the green light to approach Davido for a remix.

“I took loans from Tanzanian banks to finance my video and collaboration with Davido in Lagos because I had to travel there with my crew, ” the Tanzanian music star said in the interview.
