Bulldog Speaks after Release, Apologises to Ghanaians

Artiste manager and outspoken entertainment pundit Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson known in the showbiz industry as Bulldog has finally spoken after an Accra Circuit Court granted him a bail of GHC70,000 for allegedly making threat comments to president Akufo-Addo.

Bulldog on Saturday, 9th January 2021 on live television on an entertainment TV program ‘United Showbiz’ made a threatening statement to president Nana Akufo-Addo concerning the defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold, where customers who invested in the firm had their monies locked up following the closure of the company.

According to Bulldog who also invested in the gold dealership firm, Nana Akufo and the NPP government are the main brains behind the closure of the company and if monies are not refunded back to customers, President Akufo will run away from the country.

“We’ll get our monies back else Nana Addo will run; he won’t finish his 4 years. I’m telling you. He won’t finish his 4 years,” Bulldog fumed during the live TV programme.

The comment has however been widely spread on social media with many indicating Bulldog threatened the President of Ghana.

Bulldog was subsequently arrested by the operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (formerly National Bureau of Investigations) and arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court where he was granted bail to an amount of GHC70,000 on Wednesday, 13th January 2021.

Speaking for the first time on Okay FM after his release, Bulldog said his intention was never to threaten the president but only meant to make a case for aggrieved customers of the collapsed gold dealership firm, Menzgold.

Bulldog thus apologized for his comment but intimated again that he did not mean ill for the president.

Bulldog over the years has come to be known as a staunch critic of the Akufo-Addo administration as he has on several occasions condemned the president’s handling of affairs.

His arrest caused divided opinion as some took to social media to advocate for his immediate release whilst others prayed for him to be punished for his actions.
