This is in relation with the shooting incident involving the MP who doubles as a Minister of State, a few days ago.
Hours after the shooting incident, Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson admitted on several radio and TV interviews that she indeed fired warning shots at the polling station centre in self defence as she believed that she could be have then been under possible threats from some members of the opposition party.
The shooting incident has drawn wide criticisms from the general public with many asking that she steps down or be fired by the Presidency. A number of civil society organisations have also petitioned the Police CID to lead an urgent investigation into the conduct of the MP.
Unsurprisingly however, some members of her party, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had voiced support for her. Some of these supporters of hers included the party’s Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay.
This arrest of Hawa Koomson will be another interesting twist to the political landscape in an election year.
