BREAKING: FIFA Bans CAF President for Five Years

FIFA, the governing body for the global sports of football has handed the sitting CAF President Ahmad Ahmad a five year ban for apparent financial misconduct.

The statement by FIFA reveals that Mr. Ahmad Ahmad had been under investigation for some time now and has been charged for breaching 4 acts of the FIFA code of conduct.

The investigation by FIFA Ethics Committee covered the period between 2017 and 2019, into some supposed irregularities concerning CAF- related governance issues.

According to the statement by the football governing body, the CAF President has been charged for a number of governance issues including the use CAF funds to finance an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca for 15 African FA presidents.

The FIFA Adjudicatory chamber, after extensive hearing, finalized a ruling that the conduct of the CAF President was tantamount to breaches of his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, coupled with the mismanagement of funds. It also concluded that Mr. Ahmad abused his position at CAF President, pursuant to the FIFA Code of Ethics.

The decision of the chamber is set to be made known to Mr. Ahmad in the next 60 days, per act 78 par 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
