Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo who heavily suffered defeat in the recently held elections in Ghana standing as a parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency has been asked by some Nigerians to blame his fellow Nigerian colleague actor and senator Desmond Elliot for his defeat.
According to the Nigerians, the senator who recently incurred the wrath of the youth in Nigeria following an unpleasant comment he passed on the issues of police brutality on Nigerian youth soiled his reputation when he endorsed him and threw his support behind him on social media ahead of the polls in Ghana.
This according to them was ‘a bad press’ for Dumelo and further created disaffection for him among the electorate in the constituency in Ghana.
John Dumelo, at the recently held parliamentary contest in Ghana garnered 37,778 votes and his close rival, Lydia Alhassan of the New Party (NPP) who won the seat recorded 39,851 votes.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, where John Dumelo contested was widely anticipated by Ghanaians following the strong competitiveness and controversies the two candidates, Mr. Dumelo and his rival Lydia Alhassan generated before the elections.
The strategies the two put up during campaign to win the hearts of the electorates have been widely admired by Ghanaians hence the anticipation of how results are going to turn out in the constituency.
After the polls, the Nigerians took to Instagram and hit hard at Mr Desmond Elliot for contributing to John Dumelo’s defeat.
