Award Organizer, Dr. UN Arrested and Locked-Up

Kumasi, Ghana – The initiator and proprietor of the controversial and most talked about award scheme in Ghana, Kwame Owusu Fordjuor popularly known as Dr. UN, has reportedly been arrested.

Dr. UN was picked up at the premises of Kumasi-based radio station, Hello FM by personnel of the National Security whiles he was having an interview at the station on Friday.

Mr Fordjuor is the convener for the infamous ‘Global Blueprint Excellence Awards’ which has been described by many as a scam following revelations that it had no affiliation with the United Nations (UN) as he [Dr. UN] had touted loudly.

After the suspiciousness of his award scheme came to light, many accused of him of making use the United Nations and its former Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, to make the award scheme appear credible and achieve his ulterior motives which might include securing sponsorship funding among others – he has however denied this on a number of occasions.

The video which appeared online showing Dr. UN being apprehended by persons believed to be operatives of the National Security at Hello FM in Kumasi has since gone viral.

During the course of his arrest yesterday evenining, the self-styled ambassador is seen exchanging words with the security personnel while demanding that he sees an arrest warrant.

One of the persons is heard in the amateur footage telling ‘Dr UN’ to comply with the plain-clothed personnel. He is further seen ranting as he was being led to the salon car which had been brought to pick him up. He appeared to have also had enough time to acknowledge greetings and accolades from passers-by, not bothering much about the current debacle.

Sources say Dr UN was arrested in 2018 for a similar event held in the Ashanti Region which had been cited as fake. It is disclosed that he has was granted bail for the offence in 2018.

In the months that followed, sources indicate he failed to show up in court anytime the case was called, an infringement for which the Asokore Mampong Magistrate court issued a warrant for his current arrest.

Mr Fordjuor a.k.a Dr. UN is currently under remand by the Asokore Mampong Magistrate Court for two weeks in police custody in the Ashanti Region.

Hours after his arrest, social media users are circulating footage said to be that of a seemingly hearty ‘Dr UN’ behind bars. As things stand, it appears as though Dr. UN takes much more delight in receiving praises and accolades than anything else – some even suggest that he might have some psychological disorder.

The Global Blueprint Excellence Award held on August 28, in Accra honoured a host of Ghanaian personalities and celebrities including Sarkodie, D-Black, Nathaniel Attoh, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Natalie Fort and many others.
